Travel Photo – Black Market in Durban

Victoria Street Market is a lively market where you can buy anything from clothing, jewelry, souvenirs and off course spices. The market itself is nothing special actually, but a good place to stock up on spices. However, if you pass the bridge over to the black market it is all of a sudden a totally different environment! Here you can find a wide variety of dried herbs and dried “whatever animal you need” – the black medicine is still a big part of their culture. If you visit, note that this part of the market may feel a bit uncomfortable to walk in, people did not seem too happy about strangers who just wanted a glimpse of the market.
