Where to stay – Emerald Fields (Florence, Italy – 2012)

Going to Florence for only one night made the location of the hostel my number one priority. Emerald Fields was only 5 minutes’ walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station, and despite a pretty anonymous door it was easy to find.

I met friendly staff which showed me my room – a bed in a three bed dorm. No bunk beds, which is thumbs up! There might be some in the other rooms, but not the once I had a sneak peek into. The staff was helpful giving me information and maps, and pointing out the main tourist attractions in town. The price is also rather good – I paid 23 Euros for a dorm bed, and then you have your own locker in the room which is spacious enough to take your big backpack. Clean beds, clean bathrooms, and somehow quiet at night.

I really loved the paintings around the hostel, and sleeping under the sun was just perfect for me! The breakfast is included, and all though it is the simplest breakfast you can find – the coffee is the real thing and great. They also have an outdoor terrace outside the breakfast room. When I go back to Florence, I would go straight back to Emerald Fields.
