Where to eat: TerraZen – Amsterdam, Netherlands

I was invited to Amsterdam last November to join a meet-up with writers for Spotted By Locals – and after some fabulous days with my co-spotters from all over Europe I used my last evening to relax and find some great vegetarian food in town. I ended up on TerreZen after reading great reviews of this restaurant – and I was not disappointed!

TerraZen is a small restaurant with a great location, just a ten minute walk from the train station. As I entered a smiling man shouted “welcome sista´” from behind the counter – and it was no problem to get a seat as it was pretty late in the evening. The restaurant is small with just a few tables, but the menu is good – with a fusion of Caribbean and Japanese food. I loved the food – sauteed greens and a spiced roti pancake, with an amazing ginger and peppermint tea. The ambiance is great too – and the best thing is that it is all vegan! The smiling man from Guyana took the order, made the food, served and chatted to the guests – he really knew the art of multitasking, in his own pace off course.
